Oh, you don't need to buy a new metal ball. The ball in your shifter should be perfectly fine. If your shifter feels good when shifting gears manually, then all you may need is the spring for sequential shifting. I would recommend that you ask to purchase a spare spring as well, so you wouldn't have to go through this process next time a spring breaks.

The PU foam sits between the stiffness adjustment Allen bolt and the metal ball. Just back the adjustment bolt all the way out, and the PU foam and the metal ball should just fall out.

Are you using Content Manager or the stock AC launcher?

@ameyy46 That’s kinda strange for CM. I haven't had issues with Content Manager before. Try deleting CM and re-downloading the latest version and reinstalling it again and see if that makes a difference.

That's a bit strange for Content Manager. Have you tried verifying your Assetto Corsa game files through Steam? If not, that's definitely worth a try.

It seems to be different for some people, I'm not sure why. I've heard of some people being barely over 300 and still having issues. I would recommend just using Content Manager instead.

Has both the upshift and downshift stopped working? Either way, it may not be a huge problem. It may be as simple as spraying some contact cleaner or even some rubbing alcohol into the micro switch and clicking it a few times to get it working perfectly again.

@aleqsokro5957 I hear you buddy. After further testing by me and a few friends, we still couldn't figure out exactly what triggers this problem. We all just use Content Manager instead.

Hey bud, when you go to the "cars" folder, is it empty? You should be seeing multiple files in there, each file representing a car.

You can't get it via their website, at least not yet. You'll have to contact their support team to get a replacement spring. I would recommend that you record a short video showing and explaining your issue before contacting support because it is very likely that they will require such a video from you to help speed up the process.

I think that there's more involved than simply the amount of cars and tracks, Like possibly the size of each file. Personally, I'm totally over it. I just use "Content Manager" and save my sanity 🙂

I didn't skip anything at all, that's why the video is so long for such a simple repair. Did you watch the entire video from start to finish? I'm guessing not...

Sorry for the late reply buddy, I only just saw your comment. It sounds like you may have a cold solder issue or maybe a broken connection/wires. But I would try uninstalling all Logitech software/drivers and reboot your PC. Then reinstall the Logitech software/drivers before trying anything else.

Hello, thank you for the response. I have already tried updating and/or reinstalling all programs and drivers, but unfortunately without success. Therefore, I also believe it has to do with a broken cable. That is why my question was aimed at identifying which cables could cause such a problem, so that I can possibly replace them.

I sold my Logitech G29 wheel years ago, so I'm just going off of memory here, but if I remember correctly, there's a cable running through the center shaft that's constantly being twisted left and right as you turn the wheel. There's a possibility that the cable got damaged, or maybe the soldering connection is broken and causing your issue. That's probably the first thing that I would check if I opened up the wheel base.

Sorry buddy, I only just saw your comment. I feel your pain, it's an extremely frustrating situation to be in, especially since Fanatec doesn't simply offer the springs for sale on their website. Did you make it clear that you own three shifters, all with broken springs? And that you'll need a minimum of three springs to repair your shifters? I really hope that you at least get enough springs to repair your three shifters.

ive heard of the simagic also having reliability problems so it worth looking into it first. my friend had to refund his after still it still not working right after rmaing it twice and even geting a replacement. also heard of vnm shifters mishitting honstly the other 1k+ shifters they all have reliability and mishift problems. id say the th8a has the best track record but even that can get reliability and mishift problems.

I still consider the Fanatec shifter to be one of the best out there when it comes to affordability, longevity, and serviceability. It's pretty well made and easy to maintain. A broken sequential spring every now and then is expected, remember that you're constantly bending a piece of metal over and over, probably thousands of times, so it will eventually snap. The main thing for me is that it's easily repairable.

Try uninstalling the mods, then verify the files within Steam. If it's OK, try running Assetto Corsa again to see if it works without the mods. I'f it works, add back your mods one-by-one, testing to see if the game works after adding each mod (this may take some time). If you're still having problems running the game, you may have no choice but to do a complete reinstallation of the game.

I hear you buddy. The stock Assetto Corsa launcher is really weird, some people can get away having lots of mods installed, while lots of us can't. I'm too old for this unneeded stress so I only use Content Manager 😃

Hey bud, the red dial stays on the wheel, there's no glue to deal with either. Make sure you take out all of the screws, there may be screws hidden behind the paddle shifters. It should come apart fairly easily.

Happy to hear that it worked out for you buddy, but since I've started to use Content Manager, I've never looked back. I would definitely recommend that you give it a try if you haven't already done so.

Sorry to hear about that buddy, calibration issues are usually caused by a cracked or broken encoder in my experience. There's also a possibility that the encoder got loose somehow, so hopefully, it may be a fairly easy fix. I don't have a G29 anymore, so I can't make a video on troubleshooting the issue.

Just be extra careful with the PS3/PS4 switch as it's a bit easy to get damaged.

Sorry to hear about your issue with your G29 buddy. I'm not 100% sure about the cause, but you may want to check the encoder for any signs of damage. A broken encoder is usually the reason for that type of behavior. I'm not sure how a power outage could have caused it, tho 🤔

Hey buddy, the last time I saw an issue like that was due to a broken optical encoder, so you may want to do some research along those lines.

Yes, that switch is very easy to break, and much caution is needed when doing the repair.

Sorry for the late reply buddy, I only just saw your message. Fanatec is the only place that I know of for purchasing replacement springs, and they do sell it separately.

You and me both buddy 🙂 This was the last race of a six-week series, so I was already used to the way that the car handles curbs. If I had lifted all the way off the throttle, the car would likely spin out, and if I used too much brake it would have probably slid into the barrier, so I tried to keep the car balanced while going over the grass by using partial throttle.

Is it a Logitech G29 as well? If you're referring to the center cap with the logo on the steering wheel, I mentioned that I had removed a few screws before just to speed up the process a bit.

Most of the videos I watched were like yours, but I found one or two videos that had a similar model as mine, and they also had to unscrew more screws from the back of the wheel, to pull the wheel off. Thanks for the detailed disassembly video. I installed longer clamps to fit on my desk.

@@thanosob3329 I've also faced this issue: a have a G29 and there should be six screws on the back and six holding the cap, but there seems to be something else holding the small red wheel (which is at the front of the wheel, I'm just giving a reference) part, because everywhere else the wheel lifts up easily, but not there. Where are the additional screws? I've searched for them many times and couldn't find any apart from the aforementioned ones.
